The Yoruba Nation across the globe has voiced its support for the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, for his continual positioning himself as a significant figure in the modern African liberation struggle.
The group described President Traoré as a symbol of sovereignty, anti-imperialism, and true African unity.
In a statement issued by the chairman, Chief Omodunni Ayorinde, and Secretary, Banjo Adewale, says Traoré’s policies were a courageous assertion of African dignity and independence
“We have seen what he is doing in Burkina Faso. We are giving him our massive support for his firm stance and his vision for a free and independent Africa
“As Africans, we must learn to protect our own. We need leaders like Ibrahim Traore who have the interest of the growth and development of Africa at heart.”
The Yoruba Nation praised President Traoré not just as a leader but as a symbol of resistance and hope for Africa.
They emphasised that Africa needs more leaders who prioritise the continent’s collective well-being over personal or foreign interests.
“Burkina Faso’s under his leadership was not just about politics, it was about the power of collective courage, the beauty of rising together.
“With a young, strong, charismatic leader, Burkina Faso has a chance to get its governance right and achieve its developmental aspirations.”
They noted that at a time of increasing global uncertainty and a decline in international aid, Africa must strive for self-reliance and control of its resources.
Like many African countries, Burkina Faso is blessed with natural resources that, if properly managed, could transform citizens’ lives.
The Yoruba Nation, therefore, called on other African countries to emulate President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso on his focus on national sovereignty, infrastructure development, and citizen empowerment.
They added that his government’s efforts to increase paved roads, implement the Faso Mebo program, and prioritise food sovereignty and industrialisation are seen as potential models for other African nations aiming for self-determination and economic growth.
