Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has pleaded not guilty to the 16-count charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over his involvement in an alleged N110 billion fraud.
Bello was arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
The former Kogi governor was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in April 2024 over alleged several sleaze while as governor of Kogi State.
The EFCC which commenced his trial in absentia, presented one Jamilu Abdullahi, an Abuja-based Bureau de Change (BDC) operator as witness.
Abdulahi had in September claimed to have paid $300,000 in school fees for the daughters of Yahaya Bello.
The Bureau de Change operator, who is the third prosecution witness in the trial of Ali Bello, narrated to the court the financial transactions between him and the Kogi State government under Yahaya Bello before Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Maitama Abuja.
