Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has demanded the suspension of his party’s flag bearer in the February 25 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar from the major opposition party.
The former Rivers State governor also called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to suspend the former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal and former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido.
Wike made the demands while speaking during an interview on Channels Television, where he also claimed members of the G5 should be congratulated for fighting for justice, equity and fairness within the party.
Speaking during the chat, the former governor said: “I’m calling on the National Working Committee of the party to, as a matter of urgency, suspend the presidential candidate of the party, suspend Aminu Tambuwal, suspend Sule Lamido …”
Asked why he thinks he shouldn’t be suspended too, Wike responded, “They know I didn’t do anything wrong. They should be congratulating us for fighting for equity, fairness and justice…”
When probed further on whether he was not fighting against the will of the party, Wike insisted it was the party that was fighting against Nigerians.
“Is the party not against Nigerians? Who is superior? Is the party superior to Nigerians?
“There is a Constitution. But because you think you have the power, you don’t want to follow the Constitution.
“They think they can do anything without anybody which they know is not possible. You can’t succeed,” Wike further stated.
