Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has explained why he visited the suspended Senator representing Bauchi Central, Senator Abdu Ningi.
Ningi was suspended over an allegation he made against his Senate colleagues alleging that they padded the 2024 budget to the tune of about N3 trillion.
The senators alleged that Ningi’s allegation was injurious to their reputation. He was handed a three months suspension that would elapse in the second week of June.
On Monday, Atiku visited the Abuja residence of Ningi in what he said was in solidarity with the suspended Senator.
He said: “During a solidarity visit to Sen. Abdul Ningi, @Sen_AbdulNingi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, I stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of government institutions if the interests of Nigerians are to be better served and the envisaged development attained.
“I assured Sen. Ningi that he is not alone in the battle that earned him a suspension in the Senate.”
