Renowned Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has offered insights into her recent decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling political party.
The actress, who has now ventured into full time politics, was formally introduced as a member of the APC during a ceremony held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Tonto Dikeh shared the rationale behind her move, expressing her belief in the country’s potential prosperity under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tonto emphasized her commitment to working for the betterment of Nigeria, setting aside personal emotions in the process.
Having previously been the deputy governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Rivers State, Tonto revealed that her decision to switch parties was informed by a presentation of well-substantiated facts, objectives, and the vision outlined in the current “Renewed Hope” agenda.
“Factual information, supported by tangible evidence, often brings discussions to a logical conclusion, compelling profound decisions and a commitment to the greater good,” she wrote.
In light of the compelling insights, goals, and vision of the “Renewed Hope” agenda, Tonto Dikeh declared her resolve to continue her contributions to the betterment of Nigerian youth, women, and the nation as a whole, a commitment she has upheld through her involvement with the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) in partnership with the Federal Government.
Over the years, Tonto Dikeh has come to appreciate the significance of visionary leadership and selfless dedication to humanity as crucial components of impactful governance. Her unwavering focus remains on the progress of Nigeria and its young generation.
