When sweet turns sour: The BBNaija weekend turnout

By Ifeka Chinyere

It has been quite a long past week for us audiences watching Big Brother Naija All Stars and just when we thought things couldn’t get more heated, our favorite housemates deliver even more. It’s safe to say we are all here for it and we’re ready to expect the unexpected. Just 2 weeks in and arguments are getting more intense — and physical. YES! That’s right. Big Brother Naija has it’s first physical altercation this past weekend and there’s nothing we as Nigerian audiences love more than VIOLENCE!

But before we get into the main topic, let us first congratulate the housemates for winning their wager task on Friday. Although at first, there were disputes concerning the high stakes made if they had won or lost but in the end they prevailed and did an amazing job presenting their beautiful and hilarious fashion show leaving team ‘Bold’ consisting of CeeC, Ilebaye, Mercy, Soma and Venita as the winners. This victory still doesn’t stop the little petty fights and apparently what seemed to be food theft.

The week finally ended and now weekend was upon us and we all knew what that means. That’s right! The Saturday night party which is what I like to call the pillar of drama. At least for me anyways. What is a good party without some drama taking place? Well, there were a few situations I did take note of.

Imagine being on the dance floor, dancing happily with your dance partner, enjoying the music and the vibe and then all of a sudden, you’ve been pushed away from your partner only to be replaced by someone. This case scenario took place between Princess, Neoenergy and Tolanibaj where Princess and Neo were seen dancing together and all of a sudden Tolanibaj sassily pushed Princess aside so she would be the one to dance with Neo instead. Now I understand the case of wanting to change dance partners on the dance floor but this seemed rather forceful and rude in my opinion but Princess wouldn’t have taken note of it because it’s a party and everybody is dancing with anybody. But Tolanibaj’s actions were later explained fast forward after the party ended.

It seems a confession has been made and Tolanibaj finally comes cleans about her feelings for Neo! She also made a stand for him to let her know if he reciprocated these emotions for her else she would walk away. Talk about putting someone on the spot! Didn’t Neo share a kiss with Uriel last week after she confessed to and has the entanglement between him and Ilebaye finally been cut off? Neo seems to be many of our female housemates’ eye candy!

But as of here, it looked like the aura shifted and things began to go south for our Gen z baddie Ilebaye, who seemed to be heavily under the influence of alcohol and the rest of the night didn’t go so well for her. Which is why I say this now my dear audience. Alcohol is not for the weak! Drink with wisdom! Even the advertisements say so.

Our dear Gen Z Baddie Ilebaye, under the influence of alcohol, bitterly lashed out at Cee-C, calling her very terrible and unprintable names, mocking her age and triggering what might have been the worst fight scenario so far this season. Along the line, Ilebaye lost what was left of her temper and dragged off Cee-C’s wig from her hair forcefully, which is an act of violence, an act that is strictly forbidden in The Big Brother House.

The fight didn’t end there. It also looked like she added Princess and Doyin into the mix. Doyin constantly repeated to her how she would later regret this act she is pulling in what seemed to be a provocative matter (also another act forbidden in the Big Brother House) and this response resulted to Ilebaye violently pushing Doyin forcefully and storming off the scene. At this point, I could already tell what would await Ilebaye and it would only take a miracle to save her from this fix she found herself in.

Saturday went by and Sunday arrived, Eviction Day. The first eviction of the season would take place but before then, Big Brother finally addressed the altercation of the night before and gave judgement and punishment to each person involved in the fight. Ilebaye was given two strikes, with only one chance remaining and if any other rule be broken, she would automatically be disqualified. While Cee-C’s punishment awaits her til Monday. The two ladies, Ilebaye and Cee-C are automatically nominated for evictions for the next week eviction show and cannot partake in Monday’s head of house challenge and will not be included in the latest ‘pardon me please’ nominations. What a way bitter way to start the week! But I guess the heavens have spared Ilebaye one more chance to put herself right. Normally, prior to other seasons, she would have automatically been disqualified like past housemates Beauty, Erica and Tacha for the same similar reasons. Is it fair to say Big Brother was being lenient to Ilebaye or would this be a partial play because of the steaming content our Gen Z Baddie has been dishing us lately? We are yet to find out.
