West Ham United piled more misery on a depleted Manchester United side, snatching a 2-0 home victory at the London Stadium.
England hopeful, Jarrod Bowen, scored his 12th goal of the campaign on 72 minutes before Ghanaian winger, Mohammed Kudus, added a second just six minutes later to condemn the Red Devils to an English Premier League record-equalling 13th defeat in 26 matches.
With four first-choice centre-backs absent, Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, was forced to hand 19-year-old debutant, Willy Kambwala a baptism of fire. Still, despite an admirable display, it was another lifeless performance from the visitors against a West Ham team themselves fresh off a 5-1 thrashing by Liverpool. The game’s only saving grace was that both sides were poor in a drab first half.
The breakthrough came when Bowen bundled in his 12th of the season after good link-up play with Lucas Paqueta. And it was Paqueta who turned provider again minutes later, slipping in Kudus to emphatically finish the contest.
The result leaves Manchester United marooned in 8th place, eight points adrift of the UEFA Champions League spots. West Ham climb above them to seventh with 30 points from 18 matches so far.
