Aston Villa have completed the signings of Samuel Iling Junior and Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus, the English Premier League club announced on Monday. The double swoop strengthens Villa’s roster as they prepare for the 2024/2025 season.
Iling Junior, a 20-year-old forward, joins Villa after spending four years in Turin. The England Under-21 international, who came through Chelsea’s Academy, played a role in Juventus’ Coppa Italia triumph last season. His arrival adds depth to Villa’s attacking options.
Barrenechea, a 23-year-old Argentine midfielder, began his career at Newell’s Old Boys before moving to Europe with Swiss side Sion. He spent the previous campaign on loan at Serie A club Frosinone, gaining valuable top-flight experience. The midfielder’s addition bolsters Villa’s options in the centre of the park.
While financial details were not disclosed by either club, the signings represent a statement of intent from Aston Villa. The Midlands outfit continues to invest in young talent as they aim to establish themselves as contenders in both domestic and European competitions.
The transfers come just a day after Juventus announced the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa on a five-year contract. This flurry of activity between the two clubs highlights the increasingly interconnected nature of the global transfer market.
