A drama ensued at the Badagry Expressway on Tuesday when the convoy of Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu arrested a motorcycle-riding man on the restricted route for two-wheeled vehicles.
In a video trending on social media, the man was heard protesting his arrest and telling Sanwo-Olu that he was a soldier, a Lance Corporal.
The governor was on his way to the Ojo campus of the Lagos State University (LASU), for the inauguration of the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre, when the incident occurred.
The ‘soldier,’ dressed in civilian clothes, was not the only motorcyclists arrested, but his arrest drew attention for talking back at Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu had said: “Put him there, let your father come and rescue you.”
The arrested man responded: “I am a soldier Oga sir, a Lance Corporal.”
Sanwo-Olu responded: “That’s the more reason I’m going to lock you up. You are telling me you are a soldier. That’s even the more reason I’m going to lock you up. Get in there. Useless boy. You are telling me you are a soldier. Lock him up!!”
