VIDEO: Squad of policemen brutalize Anambra lady over alleged non-payment of security fees

 

 

 

A video has been trending on X of a detachment of policemen assaulting a lady with punches and slaps in Anambra.

 

It is not clear why the policemen descended on the lady in that manner, but netizens on X said it was because of non-payment of security fees.

 

In the video, the policemen, bearing guns, were first spotted shoving and pushing a lady. Then another video showed one of the policemen vigorously punching another lady. He got assistance from other policemen who joined the beating party.

 

 

The incident is said to have occurred in Umuodu Okpuno area of Awka, Anambra State.

 

According to an X user, @bennynenny042, the incident occurred on Saturday, September 30, 2023. She said the victim was her sister-in-law.

 

Hear her: “See what police officers did to my sister-in-law because of security fees@anambra state. And she just had an appendix operation last week.”

 

 

In another post where she tagged the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, she said: “See what police officers who swore to protect lives and properties did to my sisters-in-law because of security fees at Anambra state, which they have paid to their compound chairman. Please, help me tag the right authorities to see this. Nobody deserves…This beastly act by Police in Anambra is very irritating, we are calling the Anambra state governor @CCSoludo to without delay order the arrest of these policemen and let them be punished according to law.”
