A senator representing Cross River North, Agom Jarigbe, abandoned a live television interview on Arise News after one of the hosts of the programme questioned him about the 2024 budget.
The interview, done via zoom, saw the senator mumbling in lamentation that he wanted to represent the people of Cross River State quietly and wouldn’t want to be dragged into budget conversation.
After deflecting the question by responding that he had not studied the budget line by line, he told his interviewers that he would prefer to talk about his thanksgiving and not budget.
One of the hosts of the programme, Steve Ayorinde, reminded the senator that he had already spoken about his thanksgiving. At this point, the zoom signal from the Senator’s end went dead.
On X, Adesuwa, who took the senator up on the budget, said Senator Jarigbe walked out of the interview and never returned.
She said: “Senator Jarigbe says he did not scrutinize the budget, walks out of ARISE News Interview He’s caught on hot mic saying we want to put him ‘in wahala’ I wonder who with?”
Recall that Jarigbe was the senator who blew the whistle on the floor of the Senate during the debate over the suspension of Senator Abdu Ningi for alleging budget padding by the Senate.
Jarigbe had claimed that about N500 million was given to each ranking Senator without him benefiting from the largesse. He later backtracked from his own words by claiming that the N500 million was for projects in the constituency of some of the Senators.
