VIDEO: Rivers youths warn Fubara against taking orders from Tinubu, caution Wike

A mammoth crowd of Rivers youths have warned that they would occupy the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt if the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara continues to waver between serving them and taking orders from Aso Rock.

The youths also offered a word of caution to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory via a song – ‘Wike dey ya dey,’ which was a way of telling him not to meddle with the governance of Rivers state.

One of the speakers at the mammoth rally said: “We will not allow anybody to submerge the will of Rivers people. So, we want to call on the governor – don’t be under any pressure by anybody.

“No re-presentation of budget to the purported Assembly. You have one Speaker recognized by law. He is Rt Honourable Edison Ehie. The seats of the 27 others lawmakers is vacant.

“We want to call on the governor. We don’t know what you are doing. As our people, we voted for you and you must listen to us. Tinubu is not from Rivers State. And as such Your Excellency, we beg you in the name of God, don’t listen to anybody. Any attempt to recall any of those commissioners, we will occupy the government house.”

PoliticsNow earlier reported that members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), traders and others on Friday marched the streets of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital in solidarity with the governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The march was against Fubara appending his signature to an eight-point resolution brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which made his position as governor shaky, which however strengthened the power of Fubara’s  ex-godfather now political foe, Nyesom Wike.

In the truce brokered by Tinubu, Wike’s men were returned back to the leadership position of the Rivers State House of Assembly; Fubara was mandated to re-present the budget to the lawmakers who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and to also readmit commissioners who resigned in solidarity with Wike.
