A man has alleged that a police officer at the Force Headquarters told him he wouldn’t get justice because he is Igbo after surviving multiple gunshot injuries.
The allegation was made on the social media platform of Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan by the gunshot survivor.
According to the survivor who showed evidence of his injuries when he was receiving treatment in hospital with several stitches, including on the head, said he was attacked by a mob at the behest of a security guard in their estate.
He explained: “I was shot multiple times on November 28, 2023. The person who set me up was one of the security guards in the estate. They call him Baba. The people who even did the thing are his children. There were many of them, like 30. They came to my house that fateful day and shot me multiple times because they wanted to kidnap me, but I refused to go with them. I fought with them, so they shot me multiple times thinking I was dead.
“I was lying lifeless on the floor and thought I was going to die at any moment. When my brother rushed in, I gave him my passwords to bank accounts and devices. I also told him that it was Baba and his children that attacked me.”
The survivor, whose name was not disclosed, said after a month and two weeks in the hospital, he returned to find that Baba and his children were all walking free. He said when he went to Force headquarters to complain, he was told by a policeman that he wouldn’t get justice because he’s an ‘Igbo boy.’ He said the policeman advised him to leave it to God.
VeryDarkMan has however promised to escalate the case with the Commissioner of Police at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Olatunji Disu.
