Some Muslim youths have taken to the streets of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State to register their grievances after ace singer and record label owner, David Adeleke aka Davido posted a controversial video clip on his Twitter page.
PoliticsNow had earlier reported that the Afrobeat singer recently shared a short video of his signee, Logos Olori’s new single ‘Jaye Lo’
The clip captured the moment some people who were praying outside a mosque, later abandoned the ritual and took to dancing. The video attracted wide criticism from many Nigerians, majority of whom were Muslims.
Many of these netizens, which include former aide to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, Senator Shehu Sani and Nollywood actor, Ali Nuhi called on Davido to take down the “offensive” video and tender an apology for “disrespecting” Muslims.
The singer eventually bowed to pressure 48 hours later by deleting the controversial video. He, however, failed to apologise for his action.
Angered by this, some Muslim youths in Maiduguri, who felt the award-winning singer was arrogant, took to the street to protest.
In a video that made the rounds on social media, the youths were seen publicly setting Davido’s picture on a large banner ablaze.
Davido should apologize let end this.
