Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) came to polling units with already filled result sheets even before accreditation could commence.
In a video posted by Sahara Reporters, voters saw the already filled result sheets after insisting on inspecting the election materials before the commencement of voting.
INEC has reacted on the pre-filled result sheets, saying it is currently investigating the situation.
“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State. The Commission views this situation seriously. Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly.”
Earlier, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the ongoing Kogi governorship election, Murtala Ajaka, alleged that the original result sheets from Okene, Okehi and Adavi local government areas were missing.
Ajaka claimed agents of the SDP were not shown the original result sheets because the Returning Officers from those three local governments were working with the APC candidate to compromise the vote in the local governments.
Ajaka is not alone in making this allegation of missing original result sheets. Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, also alleged that the original result sheet for Ogori Mangogo were missing.
In a tweet, he said: “Voting not going on in Ogori Mangogo because INEC staff refuse to show our agents clean result sheets. If they refuse to show you untampered result sheets, resist and protest.”
