A man wearing white T-shirt, a jean and sandal, fired several shots of AK47 in the air, at full glare of traders to celebrate the reopening of Ladipo Market
Recall that the Lagos state government shut the Ladipo Market which is situated in the Mushin area of the state in September as a punitive measure over waste mismanagement offence.
On Monday, October 16, the government announced reopening of the market after the traders agreed to keep the place clean.
News about the reopening of the market got the traders screaming in excitement. A man, obviously popular among the traders and dressed in civilian outfit, then burst into the crowd with an AK47 rifle. He fired several shots in the air amidst heroic chant from the traders.
The video of the shooting was shared on X by one @abdullahayofel, who also tagged the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi.
Adejobi, in reaction, said the video has been passed to the Lagos Police Command for onward arrest of the gunman.
He said in a post on his X handle: “This has been sent to the Lagos state command for necessary action. We will identify the man with AK47 and do the needful. Thanks.”
Some people who commented, said the gunman may be a policeman who is well known in the market.
