Bayer Leverkusen’s Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, emerged as the standout player in his team’s sensational 3-2 away triumph over Hoffenheim on Saturday, contributing with two crucial assists in a remarkable display.
The visitors seized an early lead courtesy of Florian Wirtz, who expertly concluded a finely crafted move, orchestrated with the involvement of Boniface. Alejandro Grimaldo further extended Leverkusen’s advantage with a stunning long-range strike just before the halftime whistle.
However, Hoffenheim staged a spirited comeback in the second half, with goals from Anton Stach and Wout Weghorst, pulling them level. Nevertheless, Leverkusen displayed remarkable resilience, and in the 70th minute, Boniface orchestrated the winning goal with an exquisite pass, which was executed by Grimaldo.
The 22-year-old Boniface, who was reintroduced to the starting lineup after a brief rest midweek, delivered an outstanding all-action performance. In addition to his two assists, he had 33 touches on the ball and won four of his seven duels before being substituted late in the match.
This victory fortifies Bayer Leverkusen’s leading position in the Bundesliga standings, while the defeat leaves Hoffenheim positioned in sixth place, striving for an upward trajectory in the league.
