Renowned Yoruba actor, Adedeji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofaina, has passed away at the age of 74. The veteran actor, originally from Ede in Osun State but a long-time resident of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, breathed his last on Thursday.
Olofaina left an indelible mark in the Yoruba film industry, featuring prominently in epic movies such as ‘Ogbori Elemoso,’ ‘Ayanmo,’ ‘Bashorun Gaa,’ ‘Afonja,’ ‘Lagbondoko,’ and ‘Balogun Ibikunle,’ produced by Biodun Eleni-Latinwo, among others.
Chief Musliu Dadofunjo, also known as Baba Jogunomi, a close associate of Adedeji Adeyemi , confirmed Olofaina’s demise. Dadofunjo revealed that Olofaina passed away on Thursday evening, adding, “He died this evening. He has a house in Ibadan, but he has returned to Ede, where he died at the age of 74.”
Previously holding the title of Solaloju of Ede, Olofaina had been elevated to the esteemed position of Majeobaje of Ede. His contributions to the Yoruba entertainment industry and cultural heritage will be remembered and cherished.
