Africa’s prominent financial institution, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has once again showcased its global prominence by clinching nine prestigious awards at The Bankers Awards 2023. The awards ceremony, organized by The Banker Magazine, a publication of the Financial Times of London, recognized UBA’s excellence on the international stage.
The highlight of the awards was UBA being honored with the highly coveted Bank of the Year Africa 2023, reinforcing its position as the leading financial institution on the African continent. Additionally, UBA’s subsidiaries excelled, with eight of them named Bank of the Year in their respective countries, underscoring the bank’s influence across diverse African markets. The winning subsidiaries include UBA Cameroon, UBA Chad, UBA Ghana, UBA Cote d’Ivoire, UBA Mozambique, UBA Congo, UBA Sierra Leone, and UBA Tanzania.
This marks the second time in the last three years that UBA has secured the regional award for the best bank in Africa, having previously won in 2021. Group Managing Director of UBA, Oliver Alawuba, expressed gratitude for the awards, emphasizing that they reaffirm the bank’s commitment to consolidating its leadership position in Africa and delivering superior value to stakeholders.
