To aid federal security forces in combating instability in the state, the Kaduna State Government has hired 7,000 youngsters into the state vigilance service.
Governor Uba Sani said his administration will do everything in its power to stop the threat of banditry, kidnapping, and other related crimes that are endangering the peace and security of the state’s citizens during the start of training for newly recruited vigilante members at the Police College, Kaduna.
The capital city’s 23 Local Government Areas produced thousands of young men and women who gathered at the Police College.
The governor stated that rural communities will receive the vigilante members.
The local government chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, and other vital stakeholders collaborate in the recruitment and screening of the trainees.
In addition to being a significant step towards reestablishing security and development in the state, the governor said this effort would also give young people jobs.
Faced with the challenge of inadequate personnel to successfully wage the battle against bandits and other criminal elements in the communities, the state government is therefore optimistic that the recruitment of these able-bodied men and women into the state vigilance service will assist the conventional security agencies with actionable intelligence due to their knowledge of the local environment.
