The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 election, Isah Ashiru Kudan, has faulted the claim by the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, that his election was upheld by the Court.
The reporting of the Tribunal’s ruling created confusion as several media outlets gave conflicting details.
But Uba Sani issued a statement after the judgement to claim that the judges upheld his election.
Ashiru Kudan, in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, debunked the claim by Uba Sani, insisting that not only did the Tribunal sack him, but also ordered that INEC should withdraw his certificate of return and conducts a rerun in certain polling units across four local governments.
“It is not true that his election was upheld. The election was annulled,” he said.
Ashiru, however, said he would still appeal the ruling on the ground that what he wanted was an outright declaration, not rerun.
When asked what is the status of Kaduna Governorship seat, he said it is vacant.
