U.S. District Court in Illinois has ordered the release of President Bola Tinubu’s academic records to his opponent in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.
Judge Jeffrey Gilbert in a ruling yesterday, ordered that relevant and non-privilege records of Tinubu with the Chicago State University should be released within 48 hours of the ruling.
The court also ordered a deposition of Chicago State University within two days where officials of the school would be questioned under oath.
Atiku has been pressing the Chicago State University to release Tinubu’s academic record.
Atiku’s argument is that disclosure of Tinubu’s education record would aid in his appeal at the Supreme Court in Nigeria against the declaration of Tinubu as winner of the last presidential election.
The disclosure is expected to clarify certain alleged inconsistencies of Tinubu’s record in the Chicago State University with those that are publicly available.
For instance, the record of Tinubu in Chicago State University is said to be a female who also has U.S citizenship.
