Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that several key players are doubtful for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal.
Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Noussair Mazraoui were all ruled out for Saturday’s trip to promoted Heidenheim, leaving Tuchel concerned about their availability for the crucial European tie.
Tuchel expressed his frustration, stating that “the problem is that none of those five have been rested.” The Bayern coach emphasised that the absence of these players from the squad for the Heidenheim match means they are “big question marks for Tuesday.”
Bayern’s pursuit of the Bundesliga title appears to be all but over, with the team now 13 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen with only seven games remaining. The defending champions’ elimination from the German Cup by third-division Saarbruecken has further compounded their woes, leaving the UCL as their last chance of silverware this season.
Tuchel acknowledged the team’s disappointment, saying: “We’re all extremely annoyed and we have anger in our stomachs to set things straight.” The coach remains focused on the UCL, declaring: “We still have one goal left which is to travel to Wembley,” referring to the location of this season’s final.
