Donald Trump was on Wednesday elected as the 47th president of the United States in what can be described as an “extraordinary comeback”.
With a win in Wisconsin, the Republican presidential candidate cleared the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency.
The victory validates Trump’s bare-knuckle approach to politics, which made him attack his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, in deeply personal, often misogynistic and racist terms
Prior to garnering the required Electoral College votes, Trump while addressing his supporters, family and his campaign team, said he’s going to make America great again.
He also promised to fix the border and US economy, adding that his second term in office “will be the golden age of America”
He said, “This is the greatest political movement of all time. We are going to help our country heal. We are going to fix our border.
“Our country was devastated before. I want to thank the American people for electing me as the 45th President and now the 47th President of the US.
“This will be the golden age of America. This will be the golden age of America. This victory will make America great again.”
