Troops kill terrorists in Sokoto, recover arms
The Nigerian Army has reported that the 8 Division Garrison’s troops carried out a covert operation at Tukandu Village in Sokoto State on Tuesday, successfully neutralizing a number of terrorists. This development was confirmed by Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr. Nwachukwu revealed that the troops executed a well-planned offensive operation with the specific aim of targeting a notorious group of terrorists responsible for various grave acts within the region. As a result of the troops’ determined action, many terrorists were eliminated, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
In the aftermath of the operation, the troops seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including three AK-47 rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, two rocket-propelled grenades, and nine motorcycles.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, commended the troops for their resolute efforts and urged them to persist in intensifying their operations against the terrorists. The overarching objective is to significantly weaken their capabilities and prevent them from having the freedom to engage in nefarious activities.
