Transfer Update: Sancho close to Dortmund return, Ipswich Secures Loan Deal for Sarmiento – Live Coverage

Dortmund in Talks for Maatsen as Chelsea Seek Transfer Funds German Club Engages in Negotiations for £30m Deal for Left-Back Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah Potential Departures . Borussia Dortmund has initiated discussions regarding the acquisition of Chelsea’s left-back, Ian Maatsen, who is currently on the transfer market.

Despite Chelsea’s injury crisis, Maatsen, who had a loan spell at Burnley last season, has seen limited action in the Premier League, making only one start this season. As Chelsea aims to generate funds for potential signings, the 21-year-old Dutchman emerges as a viable departure option.

While Dortmund has expressed interest in Maatsen, the negotiations are not yet in an advanced stage. Chelsea is reportedly seeking approximately £30m for the versatile defender. Burnley had previously attempted to sign him in the last transfer window, but Maatsen turned down the move. West Ham also showed interest in Maatsen during the previous summer transfer window.

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are in negotiations over a deal for Jadon Sancho to return to the Bundesliga club on loan. The winger is keen on the move after more than four months without a game.

Talks centre on a loan fee and salary coverage, with only a temporary transfer feasible for Dortmund, who sold Sancho to United for an initial £73m in July 2021. Sancho has not played since he effectively called Erik ten Hag a liar in early September. United’s manager has demanded an apology from the 23-year-old and ostracised him from the first-team squad.

Joshua Kimmich has been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. He must know this, and so to the Twitter decoder. What can he mean here?

Done deal: Ipswich have signed the Ecuadorian winger, Jeremy Sarmiento, on loan from Brighton.

He’s been on loan at West Brom before but has been redirected to the Championship’s second-placed team.

Per his new club’s official website:

“The full Ecuador international, who represented his country at the 2022 World Cup, will join up with his Town teammates later this week and will wear the number 21 shirt during his time with the Club.

“I’m very excited to be joining Ipswich at a time when they have been on a great run since winning promotion to the Championship,” Jeremy said.

“Ipswich were always there, after interest in the summer which didn’t quite work out, but I’m here now and I’m ready to do my best.“

Sergio Reguilón will return to Tottenham after Manchester United exercised a break clause in his loan deal. The 27-year-old Spanish left-back made 12 appearances for United after joining in September after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

United have chosen to cut short the deal with Shaw having returned to action, although he is out with a slight injury, and Malacia nearing a comeback.

With United eliminated from European competition and the Carabao Cup, it was felt there would be fewer opportunities for Reguilón to feature in the second half of the season. He has only played for United this season, so could play for another club if he left Spurs during the January window.

Tottenham are looking to strengthen their defence and have stepped up their pursuit of a centre-back by opening talks with Genoa over the signing of Radu Dragusin. The Spurs head coach, Ange Postecoglou, has been in need of reinforcements, especially defensively with Micky Van de Ven absent since November and Cristian Romero sidelined until February with a hamstring injury.

Postecoglou has repeatedly made clear his desire for any January recruits to arrive early and could get his wish with talks progressing well with Genoa. Dragusin, a 21-year-old Romania international, has established himself as a regular in Serie A during the past two seasons at Genoa after he came through Juventus’s academy.
