Tottenham’s top-four push boosted by Nottingham Forest win

Tottenham Hotspur have moved into the top four of the English Premier League standings after a crucial 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. The win strengthened Spurs’ bid for a coveted UEFA Champions League spot, as they continue their push for a return to Europe’s elite competition.

Tottenham’s opener came in the early stages, as Nottingham Forest’s Murillo turned the ball into his own net following impressive work by Timo Werner. However, the visitors were not deterred, and they soon equalised through Chris Wood, who netted his fourth goal in as many games for the club.

Determined to regain their lead, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou made two changes at half-time, and the switch in approach paid off almost immediately. Defender Micky van de Ven rifled the ball into the top left-hand corner from the edge of the box, restoring Spurs’ advantage.

Tottenham’s delight was further amplified moments later, as Pedro Porro added a third goal for the home side. The Portuguese defender connected sweetly with a bouncing ball inside the box, unleashing a stunning half-volley that left goalkeeper Matz Sels with no chance.

Despite a few nervy moments towards the end of the game, where Nottingham Forest threatened to claw another goal back, Tottenham’s defence stood firm. With the victory Spurs will now enter the run-in as favourites to secure automatic qualification for next season’s UCL.
