Terrorists have reportedly murdered a young Nigerian, Nabeeha who was abducted along with five siblings and her father in the Federal Capital Territory on January 2.
The terrorists are reportedly asking for N60 million before releasing the women. The father was first released after payment of N60 million with a deadline set for the other payment.
On Saturday, after the deadline passed, the terrorists reportedly murdered Nabeeha to force the hands of the family in raising the ransom.
The tragic murder of Nabeeha, reportedly done in the full glare of her siblings, has sparked outrage.
In a post on X, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party described the report of the murder of Nabeeha as brutal.
“I am saddened by reports of the brutal murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was abducted with her siblings and has been in the custody of their abductors for almost two weeks,” he said in the post where he asked the government to step up the security of the country.
On social media, Nigerians have started a fundraising for N60 million towards offsetting the ransom demand.
It is not clear how much has been raised so far, but many Nigerians have expressed willingness to contribute.
The police have also announced that they are prioritizing the case.
