President Bola Tinubu has scrapped two ministries – the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development, according to his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
Mr. Onanuga said the reshuffle was decided on Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
“There will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, North East Development Commission,” the presidential spokesman wrote on X.
“The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports,” Onanuga said.
He added that the president has also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
This leaves Abubakar Momoh, Niger Delta Affairs Minister, and John Enoh, Minister of Sports Development, without ministries to oversee.
