After spending a week in New York, where he spoke to the UN General Assembly and visited with international leaders and Nigerians living abroad, President Bola Tinubu came back to Nigeria on Friday night.
PoliticsNow reports Tinubu left New York on September 22 and his whereabouts were unclear for several days with unconfirmed reports claiming that he travelled to Paris.
Ajuri Ngelale, his spokesman, had been mum on the president’s whereabouts.
In a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres while in New York, Tinubu stated that African countries would begin to take the necessary steps against individuals who illegally syphon and smuggle out the continent’s abundant mineral wealth. In the centre of the global financial system, he also rang the bell at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System.
He travelled to the US with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
On October 1, the nation’s Independence Day, he is expected to deliver a speech.
