In a comprehensive restructuring move, President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the removal of several Chief Executive Officers in the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, signaling a shift in leadership to enhance world-class standards in Nigerian Civil Aviation. The changes include the removal and replacement of key figures in prominent agencies within the sector.
Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has been relieved of his duties and replaced by Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku as the substantive Managing Director of FAAN.
Similarly, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, has been removed from office, and Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk has been appointed as the new substantive Managing Director of NAMA.
The restructuring extends to the Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), where Engr. Akinola Olateru has been removed and replaced by Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. as the substantive Director-General.
Additionally, the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, has been removed, with Prof. Charles Anosike appointed as the substantive Director-General of NiMET.
In a parallel move, the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo, has been removed and temporarily replaced by Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector of NCAT, pending the appointment of a substantive Rector, in line with Section 13(2) of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Act, 2022.
This significant overhaul aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on instilling world-class standards, consumer protection, and the overall well-being of Nigerian passengers, while addressing the high cost of underperformance in the aviation sector.
