Tinubu must act fast to address complaints of hunger protesters, says Ondo APC member

Former Ondo Central Senatorial Candidate, Dr. Seun Majasan has cautioned the Federal government and protesters on the proposed protest saying Nigeria could still achieve peaceful coexistence despite the crises of hunger, insecurity and kidnapping in the country.

Majasan who recently joined the APC made the comment while addressing newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Friday.

The politician called for calm and caution over the planned protest so as move the country forward

“It is true that Nigerians can protest, it’s their constitutional right but the planned protests could be hijacked by hoodlums with ulterior motives.

“Inasmuch as I would condemn protest but at the same time I will say sometimes it is the best but last option to make some cruel government to listen and act fast.

“Democracy is supposed to be Government of the people, by the people and for the people, not any other way round.

“If the people have tried all necessary means to make their grievances known to the government and nothing is done, then the last option would be protest. That is why the Federal government should act fast now to address the points raised by the protesters”, he said

Majasan further expressed concern that there is no hiding the fact that there is severe, acute and chronic hunger in the land saying that people are finding it so difficult to feed and many are dying.

He said that the federal, state and local governments should be proactive now to cushion the effects of the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Majasan therefore appealed to the  federal government to reduce the price fuel drastically to ameliorate the sufferings of millions of Nigerians and invite all ideas and think outside the box to free Nigeria and Nigerians of this avoidable calamity
