Shortly after forming his cabinet at the presidential residence in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu issued a dire warning to his 45 new ministers, among them Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
President Tinubu informed the newly appointed cabinet members in a tweet on Tuesday, August 22, that Nigerians expect his campaign promises to be delivered as soon as possible and that failure is not an option.
Tinubu reminded the ministers that he is “the driver” even though he said that he and they are in the same boat or vehicle with regard to the new assignment.
The president prayed for the ministers’ success and admonished them to hold themselves accountable before Nigerians, do all while showing a video clip from the inauguration.
“In this new assignment, we are in this boat together; even if it is a vehicle, I am the driver. The entire nation sits watchful as you and I navigate this vehicle. We must hold each other responsible. We have to do the job to meet the expectations of all Nigerians. God be with you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
President Tinubu swore in 45 ministers on Monday, August 21. Among them is Wike, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has been outspoken about his nomination and the expectations placed on him as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
