Tinubu asks Supreme Court to reject CSU records, Westberg deposition
President Bola Tinubu has filed a reply against the charge of forgery leveled against him by his major political opponent, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a reply on October 12, the President asked the Supreme Court to reject the forgery evidence against him because the deposition of Caleb Westberg, registrar of the Chicago State University (CSU), was not conducted in a proper courtroom.
He said the deposition was carried out by U.S. attorneys instead of certified judicial officers, hence not qualified to be admitted in the case against him at the Supreme Court.
The deposition of Westberg was given at the office of Atiku’s attorney. Tinubu appears to be exploiting that venue to demand the disqualification of Westberg’s testimony which was obtained on October 3.
He argued: “I know as a fact that neither Gwendolyn Bedford nor any other person present at the deposition is a judicial officer.
“DECHERT LLP referenced as the venue of the deposition, is the law office where Angela Liu, Esq., counsel to the 1st appellant herein, serves as partner,” said the president.
