Three years ago, frustrated community members who have endured lingering darkness because of a faulty transformer, prayed against all the principalities and powers which always caused the electric equipment to develop fault.
The dramatic event took place at the Ikota Housing Estate in Ajah, Lagos on August 14, 2020.
According to report at the time, electric officials have brought four different transformers to their area and the four became bad, throwing them into perpetual darkness.
Frustrated by the continuous darkness, the residents surrounded the transformer to pray against the principalities and powers causing the transformers to go bad all the time.
The old video was shared today, January 24, 2024 on X by Dino Melaye, the candidate of PDP in last November election. He added this caption to the video: “We are sick in Africa. How can people be praying for a spoilt transformer? Watch this video and know that we have major problems.”
Netizens, however, blamed politicians, including Dino for the action of the people.
@oludarelordgod said: “Living at the comfort of your home makes you think everyone have the same reality just like you ,if you live in some area you will understand why 3 new transformers will stop working in space of 1 month and they couldn’t find any reason why they stop working.”
@ontimesam said: “Those money politicians legally or illegally took from Nigerians can buy thousands or millions of transformer.”
@Bro_Yeni said: “The luxury cars you parked for your compound in Nigeria and Dubai can buy 100 transformers for different communities in Nigeria, go hide your face.”
@Dkingzman said: “Hahahahahahahaha… Coming from a member of the ruling elite whose hubby is to acquire and flaunt exotic cars at the expense of the impoverished masses. Na peoples like you dey use money meant for transformer buy private cars, then send the poor people to pray like this.”
