On Sunday, May 28th, 2023, the Artists Commune staged its sixth Art show, titled ‘Into The Multiverse’. The Artists Commune is a developing group of both Nigerian and worldwide young artists who exhibit their works and start serious dialogues about Arts through conventional and digital media.
The Art show was held at the ‘One Art Gallery’ at Ajao Estate, Anthony Village, Lagos. The Artists listed who displayed their various Art works were Adeniyi Adedoyin, DayoTheArtist, Prince Uhunoma Charles, Josh Adegboye, Nwachukwu Phillip, Ganiyu Mustapha, Abisola Kuburat Gbadamosi, Ganiyat, Chidinma Nwafor, Roseleen Labazacchy, Amaefule Austen, Azeez Afeez, Oni Balogun, Nwankwo Uchenna, Eyitayo Alagbe, Seun George (SeunTheArtist), Akingbade Adeniyi, Tosin Kuzzi, SDL, Stanley Ugonabo and Olalemi also known as“theelvnth”
Attending this special event would allow one to interact with other creatives in the area and discuss ideas, perspectives, and viewpoints on how they perceive the world and can communicate it through Art, as well as understand how they used their skills to start conversations based on both social and personal viewpoints.
Arts, on its own, is a unique kind of free and expressive contact with man. A method of interpreting, relating, and comprehending a new point of view on how things are perceived around them, or a method of creating a tale about a person to catch the attention of others. To some, Art is a way to express their emotions about political and cultural issues, and to others, it is a journey.
This exhibition featured artwork centered on a variety of discussion-worthy topics such as ‘Synergy and Power that resonates in the human body, Mental health and existentialism, Female empowerment and self-realisation, Culture – exploring deep into African roots, Healing power of nature, and so much more. It is reasonable to state that the artworks made have fulfilled their purpose of connecting to the spectators’ souls, sparking insightful dialogues, and yet exuding the beautiful components of Arts through colour, harmony, tone, and patterns.
In conclusion, it is safe to say that the “Into The Multiverse” Art exhibition lived up to its name by allowing the spectators visualise the world through the eyes of various artists, as young people living in our current society, as well as to delve deep into their Art styles through the use of various Art forms, elements, and techniques that included both traditional Art forms, photography, and digital Art forms.
