The suspended senior pastor of the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Idowu Iluyomade, has launched his church in Lagos named The Family Fellowship.
Iluyomade was stripped of his position as Senior Pastor of one of the high-flying RCCG churches following a lavish 60th birthday for his wife about a week after the death of a prominent member of his church and former CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe.
In a video making the rounds online shows Pastor Iluyomade with some church members dancing and celebrating at their new space inside the Civic Center in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Iluyomades were knocked online for several months after his wife, Pastor Siju, threw the elaborate 60th birthday party in which singer Flavour and other entertainers performed. The birthday bash was condemned because it was held a few days after Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son, died in a helicopter crash in the U.S.
As immediate reaction, Iluyomade was not invited to the Wigwes funeral and thereafter suspended by the governing council of RCCG in June 2024.
They were also transferred to the Headquarters of the church in Ebutte Metta. That appears not to sit down well with the prominent pastor who appears to have quit the service of the RCCG by opening his own church.
