The Supreme Court has deferred judgments in two appeals lodged by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, and Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, contesting the election victory of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
A five-member panel at the Apex Court, led by Justice John Okoro, made this announcement on Tuesday, following the adoption of final addresses by all parties involved.
Justice Okoro mentioned that a date for the verdict would be communicated to all parties.
Rhodes-Vivour and Adeniran are disputing the decision of the Court of Appeal in Lagos, which upheld the triumph of Governor Sanwo-Olu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the gubernatorial election held on March 18 in Lagos State.
The appellate court’s three-member panel affirmed the ruling of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which dismissed separate petitions filed by Rhodes-Vivour and Adediran against Governor Sanwo-Olu’s election.
