In a statement released on Monday in Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’idu Maccido, the Secretary to the Sultanate Council, announced that Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has officially declared Wednesday, June 28, as the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 A.H in Nigeria.
This declaration establishes that Monday, June 19, is recognised as the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH, consequently, the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir for the year 2023, will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 28, coinciding with the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah.
He also urged the Muslim faithfuls to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country, while wishing Nigerians a happy Eid-el-Kabir.
