The 35 thousand capacity Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, welcomes Delta state contingent and others across the Federation to the 7th National Youth Games, tagged Asaba 2023.
The states already in Asaba for the Youth Olympics include Delta, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Abia, Anambra etc.
From the gate to the main bowl and other competition centres of the event, the facility is already wearing a pleasant look while various workmen are putting finishing touches to various tasks to herald the all important national event.
The Youth Games is scheduled to begin on September 20 with the arrival of state athletes while the Opening Ceremony is on September 21 and Closing Ceremony on September 30.
Expectedly, the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has given a marching order to the Local Organising Committee to ensure that this edition of the Youth Games becomes the biggest and best organised to deliver the most memorable sporting experience to athletes, officials and sports fans.
However, Delta Sports Commission Chairman, Chief Tonobok Okowa has expressed delight in the number of states participating this year and assures that Delta State as usual, would be a good host.
The capital Asaba and its environs appear ready to welcome the young AthIetes to the state, as markets have started displaying banners of various inscriptions wooing participants to purchase.
The local organising Committee (LOC) Chairman also assured of security, insisting that all routes leading in and out of the competition venues and hostels have been tightly secured.
