Activist and 2023 presidential candidate of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) over the conferment of honourary doctoral degree to Seyi Tinubu, the son of the president.
The acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu disclosed this during a press briefing held at the institution’s conference hall on Wednesday,
He listed the Minister of Health, Dr Ali Pate; President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and an industrialist, Chief Chika Emenike, as the three persons pencilled down to receive honorary degrees for their various contributions to society’s development.
In a reaction to the decision, Sowore criticised the university for listing Seyi among the honourees, wondering what was his accomplishments.
He said: “UNIZIK must have also prepared expulsion letters for student TikTokers, because there will be plenty of stories from this fraudulent honor to Seyi Tinubu. What is happening in Nigeria? How is Seyi Tinubu qualified for a university honor? What does Seyi Tinubu do besides leveraging Tinubu’s corrupted connections?”
