South West APC youths slam PDP counterparts over ultimatum to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu
The youth wing of the Southwest region’s All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized their counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for issuing an ultimatum to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to return from his residence in Ibadan.
The APC youths, who gathered in Akure, the state capital, emphasized that there is no void in the state’s governance, countering insinuations to the contrary. They confirmed that Governor Akeredolu will soon return to the state.
During a press conference, Comrade Kolade Lawal, the youth leader of the APC in the region, stressed that Akeredolu’s absence from the state is solely for his recovery and to regain his strength.
Earlier, the youth wing of the PDP had given Governor Akeredolu a three-day ultimatum to return to the state or resign from office.
Lawal remarked, “Governor Akeredolu will rejoin us in a matter of days, but not in response to the opposition parties’ threats. The Ondo state government is up to date in paying salaries, and the governor is currently in Ibadan, where he is focusing on recuperation.
“Government activities continue without interruption, with the governor participating in Zoom meetings with traditional leaders and various groups. He has maintained communication with the people. We are confident that he will make a full recovery and rejoin us soon. In the narrative of creation, even God took a day of rest, recognizing the importance of rejuvenation.
“Governor Akeredolu’s choice to seek rest and adjust his work schedule for a full recovery underscores his humanity, reminding us that even leaders are not immune to the challenges of physical well-being.
“We must not forget the days when Mr. Governor fought for us, standing resolutely to protect Ondo State and the entire Southwest when there were security challenges in the region. He has been a steadfast advocate and a voice for the voiceless. We owe him our understanding and trust. He has been a leader in all seasons.”
