The governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered that Miss Mmesomma Ejikeme, a student at the Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi who recently admitted to forging her JAMB score, be transferred to the state’s Guidance Counselor.
Soludo ordered that Mmesoma’s psychological counseling and therapy sessions begin right away in a letter to the principal of the Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi.
On Thursday, July 6, 2023, the student admitted that she had forged her JAMB scores to get to 362, the highest score in the nation. As a result, Soludo specified in the letter that was signed by Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, that Mmesoma be transferred to a professor of clinical psychology.
“The directive is in line with one of the recommendations of the Committee set up by Anambra State Government to investigate the matter, following the parading of the fake results which elicited interests and generated controversy and misgivings,” the statement read.
In contrast to her actual score of 248, Miss Ejikeme claimed to have received a score of 362, which prompted JAMB to deny the claim.
The 19-year-old posted the results on social media and insisted that she never tampered with them, despite JAMB’s position. This compelled the Anambra State government to set up a panel to investigate the situation.
However, the panel’s report, which was made available to journalists, states that Ejikeme admitted to fabricating the outcome while testifying before the panel without anyone else’s knowledge or assistance.
The panel claimed in an eight-page report that after the candidate publicly admitted to changing her UTME score, it was only then that it was learned.
The panel claimed that Mmesoma acknowledged the JAMB officials’ account of what happened to be accurate in front of her principal and the education secretary.
According to the report, she also acknowledged using her Airtel phone number to independently manipulate the outcome.
The panel recommended that she write letters of apology to JAMB, her school, Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi, and the Anambra State Government.
Additionally, it advised Mmesoma to receive therapy and counseling for her mental health.
