Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly prepared to invest £245 million ($300 million) from his personal wealth to modernize Manchester United’s aging infrastructure.
Ratcliffe’s Infrastructure Investment Ratcliffe to personally contribute £245 million Ongoing negotiations for a 25% ownership stake As per Sky News, the British billionaire is willing to allocate this substantial sum to rejuvenate the club’s deteriorating infrastructure. This personal investment is in addition to the £1.25 billion he plans to spend to acquire a 25% stake in the club, which will not add to United’s existing debt. The investment will be disbursed in phases, with a significant portion set to be provided to the club by year-end.
The entire amount will be devoted to enhancing the club’s infrastructure and will not be allocated for bolstering the squad. Nonetheless, the task of transforming United’s stadium into a world-class facility, comparable to the Emirates and the Etihad, may necessitate additional financial resources. It is believed that Ratcliffe is open to further investment to equip Old Trafford with state-of-the-art facilities.
However, whether these plans will be disclosed upon the completion of the takeover, which could occur in approximately 15 days as both parties are still engaged in negotiations, remains to be seen.
What Lies Ahead? Reports suggest that once the takeover process is finalized, Sir Ratcliffe will assume control of the club’s sporting affairs. There are rumors that he might appoint former Tottenham head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, as the director of football to revamp a United side that has struggled to achieve success under manager Erik ten Hag.
