Former senator who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Comrade Shehu Sani, has warned about the prospect of polytechnics and colleges of education fizzling out of relevance.
Sani, in a post on his X handle, lamented the emphasis on university degrees for employment and promotion as reason for the systemic crisis of relevance affecting polytechnics and colleges of education.
He said polytechnics and colleges of education are rapidly being converted to universities in reaction to the way employers elevate the status of university degrees over polytechnic and colleges of education certificates.
The post reads: “Polytechnics and Colleges of Education are rapidly converting to Universities these days.A time will come when nobody will seek for admission into any higher institution other than the University.Emphasis on a university degree for employment and promotion is the cause.”
