Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for appointing former governors of Jigawa and Zamfara to head the Ministry of defence.
The two ex-governors are Abubakara Badaru (Jigawa), who is the Minister of Defence, and Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), the junior Minister of Defence.
FaultingTinubu’s movie in a tweet on Wednesday night, Mr Sani suggested that the office of the defence minister should be occupied by a military officer with experience and a record of accomplishments.
Mr Sani said that the country currently faces a series of security challenges and as such the office should not just be political.
“In view of the security challenges faced by this country,I thought the Defence Minister should be a retired Military officer with experience and records of accomplishments.That office shouldn’t be just political, especially at this time.”
His call comes amid worries by Nigerians as President Tinubu appoints individuals with little or no experience about the ministries they are heading.
