Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has supported the Visa denial for Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and other top military officers who wanted to travel to Canada for the Invictus Winter Games.
General Musa who had expressed disappointment over the visa denial at an event in Abuja, got a solidarity comment from National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu who told Canada ‘to go to hell.’
Shehu Sani’s comment came after chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Chidi Odinkalu questioned why Nigeria had a delegation of over 70 officers to the Invictus Winter Games at a time Nigeria is grappling with severe insecurity. Besides, he said Nigeria does not have winter, hence it was out of place for it to be participating in a Winter Games.
Corroborating Odinkalu’s position, Shehu Sani posted via his X handle that he initially wanted to condemn Canada for the Visa denial but after learning the reason for the intended travel and the number of delegation Nigeria was taking along, he changed his mind.
He said: “I wanted to condemn Canada but when I heard the purpose of the trip and the number of people wey wan travel,my bodi come weak.”
