The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN )
President Bola Tinubu had nominated and forwarded the Supreme Court Justice to the Senate for confirmation following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola from the bench last month.
Before her confirmation by the Senate on Wednesday, Justice Kekere-Ekun has been in acting capacity as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
With her confirmation, she becomes the second female CJN after former CJN Mariam Aloma Mukhtar and the 18th Chief Justice of Nigeria after Olukayode Ariwoola.
