Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been caught plagiarizing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his praise of Funke Akindele’s new film, A Tribe Called Judah.
Although Sanwo-Olu deleted the plagiarised post on his X handle and replaced it with a fresh one. The remedial was however too late as netizens already took the screengrab.
The Nation Newspaper owned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also did a report on its X handle using the plagiarised post. The report is titled: ‘Sanwo-Olu congratulates Funke Akindele as ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ hits N1 billion box record.’
The plagiarised part of Atiku’s post which Sanwo-Olu X handler lifted and The Nation also attributed to Sanwo-Olu, reads: “I extend my hearty congratulations to #funkeakindele for the phenomenal success of ‘A Tribe Called Judah.’ This film has not only shattered box office records by becoming the first Nigerian movie to earn 1 billion naira in domestic theatres, but it also stands as a…”
After being called out for the intellectual theft, the post on the X handle of Sanwo-Olu was deleted and the plagiarised part replaced with the lines: “Congratulations to @funkeakindele on the success of her record breaking film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ which crossed the One Billion Naira mark recently.”
The lifting of Atiku’s post, a political enemy of Sanwo-Olu’s godfather, President Tinubu, was most likely not deliberate but an accident that can happen when using Artificial Intelligence which crawls on cyberspace before throwing up suggestions.
