Salah’s double propels Liverpool to an easy victory over Brentford

Mohamed Salah extended his remarkable goal-scoring streak at Anfield, securing two goals as Liverpool comfortably triumphed 3-0 over Brentford on Sunday. The Egyptian’s stellar performance elevated his English Premier League season tally to 10 goals, second only to Erling Haaland, and contributed to Liverpool’s flawless record of six wins in as many home games.

Salah’s brace marked his 200th goal in English football, scoring in each of Liverpool’s last six home games. His first goal, just before halftime, resulted from a well-executed play by Darwin Nunez. Salah’s second, a header after the break, reflected Liverpool’s persistent attacking pressure.

Diogo Jota sealed the victory with a late third goal, adding to Jurgen Klopp’s side’s collection of comfortable home wins. The outcome positions Liverpool in second place on the English Premier League table, trailing leaders Manchester City by a single point, with the much-anticipated clash against Chelsea on the horizon after the international break.

Following a summer of transitions, Liverpool has re-emerged as City’s primary contenders. This win marks their eighth victory in 12 league games, maintaining a flawless home record. Brentford struggled to contain Salah and Nunez, with the Uruguayan having two goals disallowed.

While Salah claimed the headlines once again, the noteworthy improvement of Nunez has been a substantial positive for Liverpool. His well-rounded play and unselfishness were evident, despite being thwarted multiple times by marginal offside calls. After a minor setback against Luton last week, Klopp’s side has swiftly returned to its dominant form.
